Three favorite parenting products for organization

I find myself using three products almost every day.

1.Scotch Mailing and Storage Tape

For taping ripped pages of books, broken CD and DVD cases, and taping labels on bins, I love Scotch Storage tape.

2. Sterilite Ultra Storage Boxes.

We store almost all the boys' toys in different Sterilite Ultra Storage Boxes.  I often cut up the package the toy came in and tape it to the bin.  Here is the raw document which I have used to make labels:  Download Kids Box Labels for Toys and Drawers.  I print them off and cut them up and then tape them onto the bins.

1985 - 30 Quart Ultra Latch Tote
1985
1988 - 70 Quart Ultra Storage Box
1988
1990 - 116 Qt Ultra Storage Box
1990

Sterilite sells different products at different stores.  We get ours from Target.

3. Super Glue

I seem to always have a pile of stuff that needs super glue: HotWheels Cars, Tractors, Figures.  My philosophy is to try the Super Glue once.  If it fails to fix the problem, then it goes to the trash.  I have liked Staples Super Glue recently.

25 New Library Books Feb 2010 and Audio Recommendations

I got these recommendations from the following two books:

I have generally been posting the books we order from the library at the Library Books category on this blog.  We find that the books recommended in A Time to Read and The Read-Aloud Handbook are far better than the ones we pick while browsing at the library.  We are thankful that Durham County Library lets people "request" books online and then go pick them up.  Our boys will also listen to books on audio (tape and CD) though they much prefer to be read to.

They have enjoyed recently:

which are cute songs
and

which are silly (and a bit edgy) stories from the public library.

Jungle Jam stories (we have listened to probably ten of their CD's) from the church library are also good.

Veggie Tales CD's from the church library have also been great with the following one being our favorite.

They of course also beg for Veggie Tales DVD's from the public and church library and we have been watching the Winter Olympics a bit.

By Andy the Dad from Durham, NC on 1/30/2010

Pros:

Durable, Attractive Design, Comfortable

Cons:

Difficult To Assemble

Best Uses:

Kids Room

Describe Yourself:

Budget Shopper

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

It is sharp looking and solid. We looked and looked and feel like this is a great purchase for the money. But the directions are small and unclear so assembling it is a big chore. The pictures need to be better in the assembly manual. I made three major mistakes but I was able to figure them out eventually and go back and fix them. I think it took me about 6 hours total to set it up. After looking around a little, we bought the mattress that Bedroom Furniture recommends and it works well for the top bunk. You will need to provide your own regular size twin bed mattress for the bottom bunk. Guide holes were only drilled for 12 of the 56 slats so I had to use my drill to do the rest. All of the parts were provided. The bunk beds came in three boxes (46 pounds, 52 pounds and 66 pounds). The smaller two I could carry myself and the big one I could carry easily with another adult. We are happy with our purchase.
