Biblical interpretation by three year old boys

Ryan likes the fact that Jesus said we should build our house on a rock.  Ryan would like to ask Jesus if he envisioned loaders, excavators and dump trucks participating in this work.  Ryan also wonders whether sand, though not as good for building houses upon, might not still be a good place to practice building houses.  It is difficult to hear our Lord talk so derisively about Ryan's beloved sand.

Amy adds, "yes, a hard saying of Jesus."

This morning I taught Ryan about "firm" handshakes rather than limp
ones.  Squeeze an adult's hand firmly.  "Firm" says Ryan, "I heard
about building a house on a firm foundation at Sunday school."  That is
what got us on the subject.

Ryan also got a bike with training wheels from our neighbors.  I have been pushing him around on it in the house.  He puts on his Cubs hat.  Explanation: "I need a helmet so I won't fall off."

Jacob is waving, dancing (swaying from side to side), looking sideways at you and talking to you: dadadadada, nananananana.

We are enjoying the following books from the library – most recommended by The Read Aloud Handbook.

Frog and Toad and Good Dog Carl are my favorites.  I enjoy Katy and Mike Mulligan because I read them with Grandma Rowell.

R . . . 3 . . . What’s the difference?

Ryan:  Can you write on these buses so that one is for me and one is for Jacob?

I put a piece of tape with a J on one and an R on the other.

Me: Ryan, what does Jacob start with?
Ryan: J
Me: What does Ryan start with?
Ryan: R . . . 3.  I already turned three.

The letters and numbers are not quite distinguished in his mind yet.

Ryan likes The Body Song on Kids Praise! 3.  His favorite song used to be Sandy Land on Kids Praise! 2.   We have Kids Praise! 1-3 and a Christmas one.  I didn't know until now that there are 10 in the series. I listened to at least the first one as a kid.

Ryan's breakfast:
1/2 banana
Cup of Milk
Granola with milk
Dry cereal: Life, Fiber One, Shredded Oats, Honey Nut Cheerios, Cheerios

Amy took a walk with the two of them in the double stroller in the morning.
Amy and I took a walk with them in the evening.  Ryan rode his big wheel.  We stopped and played soccer.  Ryan played some soccer but did a lot of picking up sticks.

I also thought I would paste below the books I requested at the library. They are recommended in:
